We are seeing emergency mode mobilizations around the world to respond to the coronavirus pandemic. The fundamental concepts that we need to beat the coronavirus pandemic have been known for decades. To beat the coronavirus emergency we must mobilize as a society to deploy tried and true public health strategies that will suppress transmission of the virus and avert millions of preventable deaths. Using these strategies well would minimize both the suffering and the disruption to daily living, while setting a precedent for prevention and management of emergencies to come.
